Each file opens in a new tab. Larger lists include everything in the smaller ones, plus more words. Filenames use plain English so you can bookmark or share them.

How to use these lists

Children: use a printed sheet to learn and revise words in short sessions. Try saying each word in your own sentence.

Parents: quiz meaning or ask for an example sentence. Little and often beats long cramming sessions.

For structured practice online, 11+ Vocab Quest uses word sets, learn, rounds, and review to support retention. Explore the interactive 11 plus vocabulary list, read the FAQs, or view plans.

Frequently asked questions

Are these official 11+ vocabulary lists?
No. They are general study aids from 11+ Vocab Quest. They are not produced by exam boards or schools and do not guarantee what will appear on any test.
How were these word lists put together?
Our team built the bank over time from vocabulary that appears widely in 11+ prep (study cards, workbooks, online practice, and lists tutors use), then organised it for the app. We refine it using feedback from families on the product. These PDFs are our own lists, not licensed or endorsed by anyone else, but they match the kind of words serious 11+ families already practise.
Which printable 11+ word list PDF should we start with?
If you want the smallest set, start with Essential (200 words). If you want a full first wave of practice, use Foundation (600 words). Extended and Complete add more words for wider coverage.
Can I print these 11 plus vocabulary PDFs at home?
Yes. Open the PDF in your browser or viewer and print as usual. The first page includes guidance for parents and children.
Do I need an account to download the free PDFs?
No. The links on this page go straight to the files. You can also practise many words online on our word list page or inside the app.
How do these lists relate to the 11+ Vocab Quest app?
The app uses structured word sets, a learning phase, rounds, and review to help retention. These PDFs are a printable extra for offline revision and quick quizzes at home.
Is 11+ preparation the same everywhere in the UK?
No. Grammar school and selective admissions vary by region and school. Use these lists as vocabulary support alongside your school or tutor guidance.
